Sara Cunningham (She/Her)
Sara Cunningham (She/Her) Founder, Free Mom Hugs Sara Cunningham (she/her) is an author, activist, and founder of the non-profit organization Free Mom Hugs. Her journey is a surprising one that began in conservative Oklahoma, when her son, Parker, came out as gay. As a woman of faith, Sara wrestled with the news until she began to study, research, and reconcile the two worlds. This journey resulted in her book How We Sleep at Night. She found herself on a journey “from the church to the Pride parade,” falling in love with the LGBTQIA+ community. In the wake of beautiful glitter-covered hugs and heart-breaking horror stories, the mission of Free Mom Hugs began. Simple acts of love and acceptance turned into a viral sensation, and Sara knew she had the opportunity to lead impactful change. Free Mom Hugs is now a movement across the country and the world. Sara goes Beyond the Hug to educate and advocate organizations of all types including schools and businesses striving for safe and protected spaces. She has appeared, many times with her son Parker, on the Today show and The RuPaul Show and spoke at the 2019 GLAAD Awards. She also has been featured in many national publications including The Washington Post, Woman’s Day magazine, and People magazine. A documentary about the Mama Bears movement by award winning director Daresha Kyi also features Sara and the Free Mom Hugs movement. Sara’s goal is to help parents and children have authentic relationships and understanding for each other using her own experience and education as a guide. Sara is passionate about connecting with faith, civic, and business leaders in efforts to make the world a kinder, safer place for our LGBTQIA+ family. She is gifted at inspiring others to join her in this movement that is sweeping the nation and the world.

Liz Dyer (She/Her), Founder, Real Mama Bears
Liz Dyer (she/her) is a writer, speaker, activist and founder of the Mama Bears organization. In 2014 Liz started a private Facebook group for moms of LGBTQ+ kids and hoped and dreamed that the moms who joined the group would not only find connections, support and resources, but also be inspired to work together to change the world and make it a kinder, safer, more loving place for all LGBTQ+ people to live and thrive. Today that dream is coming true. Liz started the Facebook group “Serendipitydodah - Home of the Mama Bears” with about 150 moms and now the group has more than 39,000 members. And, that one group has grown into an organization known as Real Mama Bears with more than 60 Mama Bear chapters, 8 additional private groups and 8 programs that serve the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to being featured in numerous news articles and podcasts, Liz and her organization have been featured in the Schitt's Creek Documentary "Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell," the Radiolab podcast "UnErased" that promoted the award winning Movie "Boy Erased" starring Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, and as the subject of the full length, award winning "Mama Bears Documentary." Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/xX2tOJTmPgA?si=NMIQk5vU40gihijl "The Mama Bear community is diverse - Mama Bears come from all different kinds of backgrounds - but they all have one thing in common - all Mama Bears wholeheartedly support and celebrate their LGBTQ+ kids and they all want to help create a world that is kinder, safer and more inclusive for all LGBTQ+ people to live and thrive." — Liz Dyer, Founder, Real Mama Bears https://www.realmamabears.org/ Mailing Address: P.O.
