Driving down for the convention and not sure where to park and how much it’ll cost you? Here are the rates at the host hotels and the lots near the convention. Limited advance parking reservations are available through Parking Panda. Hilton Atlanta (parking garage height is 6 feet): $42/day valet parking $46/day valet parking for oversized vehicles $32/day self parking (no oversized) Hyatt Regency Atlanta (parking garage height is 7 feet): $45/day valet parking Marriott Marquis Atlanta: $45/day valet parking $50/day valet parking for oversized vehicles (no buses/RVs/duallies) Sheraton Atlanta Hotel: $40/day valet parking $24/day self parking Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel: $49/day valet parking Omni Hotel: $45/day valet parking $50/day valet parking for oversized The parking decks around main hotels: $15–$30 per day, but these fill up quickly and generally don’t allow in-and-out privileges. Many MARTA stations provide daytime parking for free, and some provide overnight parking for a low fee ($5–$8 per day).

Health & safety
Face masks and reduced attendance Appropriate face masks will be required at all times inside convention venues regardless of vaccination status, in keeping with updated CDC guidelines and City of Atlanta requirements. In 2021, Dragon Con will have reduced capacity from prior years. We have worked closely with our hotels and AmericasMart to determine how many people are permitted in the buildings each day and at a given time and taken further steps to reduce capacity to allow for personal spacing. There will be no Saturday-only membership sales before or during the convention. One-day badges will only be available for Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

    Information The Parade Route will begin on North Main St in front of the Dollar General Market and end on South Bridge Street in front of the Catholic Church. Bridge Street and portions of Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 8:00 am. Entries can begin arriving at that time. Please enter the parade route from Main Street. Parade representatives will be along the route with location information. You MUST be in your assigned spot by 9:30 am. Those entries that arrive later will automatically forfeit their assigned position and will be added to the end of the parade, in front of the horses. Please note: There will be a $10 fee for every 50 feet over the 50 feet allotted for each entry due to space limitations. This fee is for businesses utilizing the parade with vehicles as advertising, non-profits or floats will not be charged any additional fees. Fees can be paid at the SCF Office (8 Park Avenue, LaBelle). NO POLITICAL candidates or advertisements will be permitted in the parade. Judging Guidelines: When constructing floats for judging, please adhere to the following guidelines: Use of Palm Fronds All floats must be lined with Swamp Cabbage Palm Fronds. Entries will be judged on look of palm fronds, (yellow vs. green, full skirt vs. few fronds.) REMEMBER- this is the Swamp Cabbage Festival, the more fronds, the better. Please be mindful of public and private property. (Palm fronds should only be taken with the owner’s permission). Use of Theme Entries should be related to the Festival’s theme. Entries shall be respectful and tasteful. No lewd writing or music will be allowed in the parade. Entries to be judged MUST display their number clearly on the front, left side of their float for judges to view. Numbers should be a minimum of 1 (foot) in size.

    Virtual Baby Bear Video Contest Saturday – June 6, 2020  APPLICATION

    Due to CoVid19, the award-winning North Carolina Black Bear Festival is going virtual this year!  BUT, instead of having to be here in person, people from around the world can compete for the cutest baby black bear on the planet!

    RULES:

    1. Send us a 10 – 30 second video of your child dressed as a black bear.
    2. At the beginning of the video a family member must hold their Baby Bear and give the baby’s first name and mention the “2020 North Carolina Black Bear Festival” to verify the authenticity of the video.
    3. Videos must be submitted by 5 pm Eastern Standard Time on June 1, 2020

    5. Winners will be announced on June 6th at 2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time
    6. We will host two age groups for this contest. The age groups are as follows:

    o   Infant – 2 yrs. old        (Age as of June 1st , 2020)

    o   3 – 4 yrs. old            (Age as of June 1st , 2020)

                 (There is not a separate category for Boys and Girls.)

    Professional chalk artists create large works on the streets around the Historic Marietta Square. In 2018 over 100,000 visitors attended the festival. There are a limited number of chalk artist positions available at Chalktoberfest. Due to overwhelming response, please complete your application using the form below, on the Chalktoberfest 2019 Eventeny site, ASAP. There is no official theme for 2019. YOU MUST SUBMIT 1-2 IMAGES YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS YEAR AND 3 EXAMPLES OF YOUR PREVIOUS CHALK WORK. Please ask if you have any questions before you submit your sketch/design. The deadline for submission is June 1, 2019. Your work must be family-friendly - no nudity, profanity, explicit images, or violence is permitted. We will not permit multiple artists to produce the same piece. Please submit early! Chalktoberfest will be juried by a committee and accepted/denied artists will receive notification via email. Contracts will be sent to accepted artists by July 15, 2019. If you have not been contacted by that date, please contact Sally Macaulay at 770-528-1444 x 14 or smacaulaymcma@bellsouth.net. If you are chosen as one of our professional artists for this event and sign a contract, you are expected to attend the festival.
