Carnaval San Francisco is a celebration of music, dance, artistry, food, arts and crafts showcasing Latin and Caribbean culture. With annual attendance of well over 500,000, this two-day outdoor cultural festival and Grand Parade is the largest multi-cultural celebration on the West Coast. The festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The parade starts on Sunday at 10:00 am. It is a classic event providing many levels of participation for residents, community service groups, sponsors, and Food Vendors.

This is an application of interest and not an approval of performance. You will receive an email in regards to acceptance if we are interested in moving forward. Notifications in regards to performance are typically given as soon as the beginning of March.

This application is ONLY for comparsas and dance groups interested in performing on the Comparsa Stage on Saturday, May 25 or Sunday, May 26, 2024 on 21st Street between Harrison and Alabama Streets.
Definition of a comparsa:
A comparsa is an artistic, street theater performance group with its own theme, cast of dancers, musicians, other performers, with choreography, costumes, props, and floats. A comparsa creates a new theme for each annual Carnaval San Francisco. To express this theme a comparsa builds a new float, choreographs new dances, performs new music, and sews/buys new costumes. Comparsas must have at least 30 dance performers, not including volunteers. A community organization, local business, company, government agency, or political entity is not a comparsa.
