Health & safety
Health and Safety Guidelines for Food Truck Owner Participants Welcome to the Atlanta Indie Market! As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and successful event for everyone involved, we have established the following health and safety guidelines for all food truck owner participants. Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory for participation in the event. 1. Food Safety Compliance: All food truck operators must comply with the Georgia Department of Public Health's food safety regulations. Food handlers must possess a valid Food Handler's Permit and display it prominently within the food truck. All food items must be stored, handled, and prepared according to safe food handling practices to prevent contamination. 2. Temperature Control: Ensure all perishable items are stored at safe temperatures: below 40°F (4°C) for cold foods and above 140°F (60°C) for hot foods. Regularly monitor and log temperature levels of refrigeration and heating units. 3. Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain high levels of cleanliness and sanitation within the food truck, including surfaces, utensils, and equipment. Provide handwashing stations with soap and water for employees within the food truck. Hand sanitizers should be used only as a supplementary measure. Regularly dispose of garbage and waste in designated disposal areas. 4. Personal Hygiene: All staff must practice good personal hygiene, including regular handwashing, especially after handling food, money, or waste. Employees should wear clean uniforms and hair restraints to prevent hair from contaminating the food. Any staff member who is ill or showing symptoms of illness should not report to work. 5. Pest Control: Implement measures to prevent pests within the food truck and surrounding areas. Regularly inspect the food truck for signs of pests and address any infestations immediately. 6. Fire Safety: Ensure that the food truck is equipped with a working fire extinguisher and that all staff are trained in its use. Maintain clear access to fire exits and safety equipment. 7. Emergency Preparedness: Have a first-aid kit readily available and ensure that all staff know its location and how to use its contents. Develop an emergency plan for situations such as fire, severe weather, or medical emergencies, and ensure all staff are familiar with the plan. 8. COVID-19 Precautions (if applicable): Follow current local and state guidelines regarding COVID-19, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and capacity limits. Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas within the food truck. 9. Compliance and Enforcement: Compliance with these health and safety guidelines is non-negotiable and will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in immediate removal from the event and potential exclusion from future events. By participating in the Atlanta Indie Market, you agree to adhere to these health and safety guidelines. Your cooperation is essential in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees, vendors, and staff. Thank you for your commitment to safety and quality.
