About the event

You are invited to join us on Sunday, October 20, 2024, as Third Coast PrideFest rockets through the streets of downtown Galveston for our 2nd annual Pride Parade! The theme is “Galveston is a Safe Space” and the parade this year is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD! Whether you're a non-profit, a company, or just a group of friends, we have a spot for all of our LGBTQ+ friends, allies, aliens, and astronauts! Bring your walking groups, golf carts, vehicles, floats, or even boats—everyone is welcome in our Pride galaxy! Applications close on October 15, 2024 so sign up today! By applying to participate in this event, you’re demonstrating unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Your duties will include directing participants to their designated line-up positions based on the order provided by Christin Roe, answering any questions they may have, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants as they wait for the parade to start, distributing items as directed by Christin Roe or other committee members, and performing additional tasks as needed.

message In this position, you will coordinate with Cloe Bourdages to set up, maintain, and assist with the safety/accessibility station. Duties include assisting anyone who needs to use the accessibility point for viewing or other purposes, accessing and distributing health and safety information provided by Cloe Bourdages, distributing items that parade participants may need (such as water, bandages, etc.), and performing additional tasks as required.

message In this position, you will work closely with children, coordinating with Cameron Dunbar and other committee members to maintain the overall well-being of the family-friendly area. Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting children at the temporary tattoo and bracelet-making stations, ensuring they have a fun and safe experience. Additional duties include picking up trash, supporting the Event Professionals, answering any patron questions, helping at the merchandise table, and other tasks as needed.

message As a parade line volunteer, your role is to ensure the smooth flow of the parade by managing the speed and spacing of participants while walking alongside the parade. You will monitor the distance between groups, ensuring there are no large gaps or slowdowns, and help participants maintain a consistent pace. Communication with other volunteers and parade leaders is key; the points of contact for these volunteers will be Autumn Campos and Celeste Rodriguez. Volunteers in this position will also offer guidance to participants when needed. Your responsibilities include keeping everyone safe, ensuring the route is clear of obstacles, and maintaining a balance between engaging with spectators and keeping the parade moving efficiently.

message In this position, you will assist Michael Cassavaugh with tasks required to maintain the well-being of sponsorship vendors/individuals and uphold contractual agreements. Responsibilities include keeping the sponsorship tables' area clean, answering any questions sponsors may have, directing sponsors and the general public around the Hendley Green area, and handling other tasks as needed.

message As a golf cart volunteer, your primary role is to assist with setting up and moving heavy metal barriers along the parade route to ensure it remains securely blocked off for the safety of participants and spectators. Your primary contact will be Dedi Ball. You will ride alongside the parade, positioning barriers in designated spots to prevent unauthorized access and ensure a clear path. You'll need to coordinate with other volunteers and the parade coordinator to place barriers at the right locations at the correct times. Safety is crucial, so you'll ensure barriers are securely positioned and adjust them as needed if they shift or if the route needs re-blocking during the event. Additionally, you may assist with the quick removal of barriers at the end of the parade or in case of emergencies.
