We're looking for Crew Members for Oahu's very own local comic convention and we'd love to have you join us to make this year's Comic Con Honolulu the best one yet! Get a peek behind the curtain and see how the convention is run, earn valuable real world experience in a variety of departments, and even earn community service hours! General Information - All volunteers are expected to work at least 15 total hours split across the whole weekend. - You will be required to attend at least one (1) volunteer general meeting before the convention and a mandatory meeting on the Thursday afternoon before the convention weekend (Sept 5th, 2024). (General meeting dates: June 22nd [on Discord], July 13th [in-person], August 3rd [in-person], August 24th [on Discord]) While filling out your application, please use an email address that you regularly check as correspondence and updates will be distributed primarily through email! ----- As a volunteer of Comic Con Honolulu you will be a representative of the convention and, by extension, the fandom community that we love and pour our hearts into as a whole. We ask that you remain conscious of that during the convention weekend and do your best to ensure that you remain, civil, cordial, and welcoming to everyone and ensure that you put your best foot forward! We understand that the weekend can sometimes be hectic, stressful, and hard but we here also want to make this an enjoyable experience for you! I understand and agree to the terms and conditions outlined below. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Comic Con Honolulu, its affiliates, managers, and/or associates from any and all claims which are brought by, or on behalf of, myself and which are in any way connected with my participation in the convention. In being permitted to participate in any activities organized, operated, or sanctioned by Comic Con Honolulu, I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions: 1. I understand that participation in the convention is of a voluntary nature. I understand and agree that in return for volunteering, I will receive a special behind-the-scenes access to the convention that otherwise would not be possible. There are special perks associated with being a volunteer that may change, but no monetary compensation will be given in return for my services. 2. I have read, understand, and agree to abide by the Comic Con Honolulu Crew Code of Conduct, the general Comic Con Honolulu Code of Conduct, Dress Code, Prop & Weapons Policy, and other Comic Con Honolulu policies and procedures set forth in the Comic Con Honolulu Crew Handbook, Program Guide, and official website (www.comicconhonolulu.com). 3. I understand and agree that the Comic Con Honolulu policies and procedures, and terms and conditions of participation set out in the crew guidelines are effective and apply to me at all times when present on and around the Convention Center and Official Hotel(s) during Comic Con Honolulu, as well as any other space or venue affiliated with Comic Con Honolulu at any time. 4. I acknowledge and agree that acceptance of any badge, membership, or other form of admission issued by Comic Con Honolulul constitutes acceptance of agreement to the following: a) Comic Con Honolulu is released from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right, or any claim, or cause of action of any kind. b) Comic Con Honolulu and its designees are authorized and permitted to use my name, voice, and/or likeness and all reproduction thereof in all media now and hereafter known for all purposes in perpetuity. 5. I understand that the materials and tools provided, such as radios, hand-trucks, etc., by Comic Con Honolulu are and remain the property of Comic Con Honolulu and I agree to return these tools and any remaining materials to Comic Con Honolulu at the end of my volunteer service. Should I fail to return any property belonging to Comic Con Honolulu, I understand and agree that I am held liable and will submit, replace, or otherwise compensate Comic Con Honolulu upon request within 30 days. 6. I further understand that participation as a Volunteer may involve physical activities and/or requirements (i.e., standing for long periods of time, lifting objects weighing 15 pounds or more, dancing, role playing) and may be inherently dangerous, carrying the risk of serious or grievous injuries, including bodily injury, damage to personal property, and/or death, which will demand the exercise of reasonable care to avoid said dangers. I am voluntarily participating in this activity with knowledge of the hazards and potential dangers involved, and agree to accept any and all risks of personal injury and property damage. I further acknowledge that the activities will be conducted in facilities that may or may not be open to the public. 7. Should it be necessary for me to receive medical care while participating as a Comic Con Honolulu Volunteer, I give the Comic Con Honolulu personnel permission to use reasonable discretion in obtaining medical care for myself, and grant permission to any physician or other qualified medical providers, including but not limited to nurses and ambulance personnel to render whatever medical care they deem necessary and that all charges for services, equipment, and supplies incurred for such treatment shall be my sole responsibility, and I agree to pay for all that was associated with rendering medical care to me. 8. I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS AGREEMENT AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY. BY SUBMITTING MY VOLUNTEER FORM, I AGREE TO IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.
