About the event

The SC Pecan Music and Food Festival is an exciting one-day festival that has delighted residents and visitors alike and is the area’s largest event, drawing over 50,000 attendees each year. The Pecan Festival is a decades old tradition in Downtown Florence, SC, which was a 2023 winner of Main Street America's Great American Main Street Award. The festival consistently wins Best of the Pee Dee awards and has been featured in numerous national publications such as Travel + Leisure Magazine Online and AAA’s Go Magazine. The festival highlights include nine stages of live entertainment, over 250 vendors, free kids fun zone, Run Like a Nut 5K, 10K, and USATF-certified half marathon, arts demonstrations, classic car show, Pecan Pub experience, and more!

Fill out this application if you're interested in volunteering with Run Like a Nut at the SC Pecan Music & Food Festival. The races begin at 120 E. Elm Street and include a 5K, 10K, and USATF Half Marathon.

Terms & Conditions

Your participation as a volunteer is based upon your acknowledgement and agreement to the following terms and conditions: Read this application form carefully before signing. Volunteer work for a half marathon, 10K, or 5K is a potentially hazardous condition. A volunteer should not participate unless medically able to participate. Each volunteer assumes all risks associated with volunteering for this event, including but not limited to the effects of weather, traffic, course conditions, course surfaces, falls, and contact with other volunteers, runners, and spectators. I agree not to consume, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs during any event or task associated with the SC Pecan Music and Food Festival. I understand that my volunteer assignment is unpaid, donated time to the Florence Downtown Development Corporation and I am responsible for obtaining any signatures required by my organization, school, or company from an authorized festival organizer.

message Volunteers will assist with race participant check-in including assigning bib numbers, distributing safety pins, and providing t-shirts to participants who registered by the deadline. Volunteers will also keep fruit replenished and water cups full at finish line.
Course Volunteers 5K, 10K, Half Marathon Routes Nov 07, 2026 7:00 am - 11:00 am 40 4
message Volunteers will be stationed along the race courses, primarily at key intersections, to direct runners and ensure they follow the correct route based on bib color. The race has three routes: half marathon, 10K, and 5K.

message Volunteers (two per station) will manage water stops along the course. Responsibilities include filling cups, maintaining a clean area by collecting discarded cups, and returning coolers to the start/finish line once the station closes.
