Vendor Rules and Regulations
WE DO NOT PROVIDE ELECTRICITY
Space: Vendor spaces will be designated by the event organizers. Each non-food vendor can set up a canopy no larger than 10 x 10 in size with tables, chairs, etc. Food vendors contact us regarding the space you need. Vendors are not allowed to bring their products and goods into the market before setup times. Vendors must be checked by the time you are given or you are at risk of being placed in another vendor location. You will be assigned a location the day of the event.
Weights: Bring weights for the tent. No exceptions!
Weather recommendations: The Melanin Market is a Rain or Shine event. In the case of inclement weather, it is up to each vendor’s discretion whether to stay or not, However, the final decision will be made by the organizers regarding cancellation of the event. Please be
prepared to protect yourself and your products from the elements. Vendor Participant fees are non-refundable.
Supplies: Vendors are responsible for supplying their own setup, including but not limited to; a table and chairs and canopy. We care about your safety and the safety of the Market’s patrons, therefore all canopies must be weighted.
Pedestrian traffic: Vendors must be mindful of patrons and keep all products and displays out of pedestrian walkways. Be mindful of those with strollers and wheelchairs.
Clean Up:Your area is required to be clean the entire time of the market. Please utilize trash cans, trash bags, etc. Please bring your own mini trash can or trash bags to go under your tents and we will have volunteers walking around emptying them throughout the market. When cleaning for departure we ask that you take your trash with you. Please make sure that your vending space is clear and clean of a trash.
Food Trucks are required to bring their own large trash cans and bags.
If your area does not remain clean throughout the market, you risk expulsion from any upcoming events.
Parking: Parking is not permitted near vendor booths (you will be able to unload and load near the space but must move vehicles quickly off the street to prevent congestion of vehicles and other vendors set. There will be a designated vendor parking lot), in addition to street parking on the side streets.
Departure: No vehicles are allowed on the street until advised by a Melanin Market coordinator.
Promotion and Sales: Vendors should clearly mark and price all products and goods, as well as have cards with contact information for patrons and prospective buyers. We also encourage promotional signage on your booth or table. Bags for purchased products are also encouraged. Many patrons do not carry cash; therefore, a portable device that accepts debit/credit cards is strongly encouraged.
Fire: Lit candles and incense are not permitted
Finally, we ask that you be kind and courteous to our volunteers. This is a volunteer event with no staff. Therefore, folks are providing their time and energy free of charge to uplift the community and ensure your business is promoted and makes sales.
Please work with us, be patience and give everyone, including yourself grace so that we can have a great Market.
Lastly, enjoy yourself. This is literally a fun filled family reunion where you are selling your wares, singing, dancing and eating good.
