Join us as Downtown Belmont and Stowe Park are filled with a display of festive trees for all to enjoy throughout the month of December.

About the application

This application is for Gaston County school groups who wish to decorate a tree in Stowe Park for the 5th Annual Festival of Trees.

Terms & Conditions

Information & Expectations
First place bragging rights will be awarded for each of the following categories:
 
  • Non-Profit Organizations
  • School
  • Downtown Merchant
  • For-Profit Organizations
Trees will be judged on theme, uniqueness, creativity, and overall presentation. Judging will take place Saturday, December 3rd from 2:00-4:30. 
 
An event map will be published online and on the Belmont GO app, directing visitors to your tree.
 
Please note there 40 trees available in Stowe Park and they will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
 
Important Dates
  • Application opens - Friday, September 9th
  • Application deadline - Wednesday, November 16th at 5:00 PM
  • Tree decorating begins - Friday, November 18th
  • Tree decoration deadline - Monday, November 28th (all trees decorated by 3:00 PM)
  • Tree lighting ceremony (at City Hall) - Monday, November 28th at 6:30 PM
  • Remove tree decorations - Sunday, January 1st - Sunday, January 8th
  • Stowe Park tree removal - Monday, January 9th at 8:00 AM
  • Any decorations remaining on January 9th will be discarded with tree

Rules and Criteria
  • City of Belmont will provide live trees & tree lights in Stowe Park
  • Groups decorating a tree in Stowe Park must provide weatherproof decorations that are securely attached to the tree (trees may be subject to harsh weather and high winds)
  • Public Works will activate Stowe Park lights on Monday, November 28th
  • For questions about lighting or electrical issues, please contact the Public Works Department at (704) 825-0506
  • Tree themes must be family-friendly
  • City of Belmont will provide a sign for each tree, including the organization/business name, tree theme, and logo
  • Tree theme and logo must be provided by organization as part of this application
  • As this is a public display, City of Belmont is not responsible for lost, stolen, and/or damaged items
  • Do not block walkways or leave your tree unattended during the decoration process
  • Do not leave trash behind after decorating
  • Trees may not be moved under any circumstance
