Food Trucks/Trailers/Booths

This application is specifically to invite those vendors we were not able to have at SoJo Summerfest. We appreciate all of our vendors and try to find a time and place to host them. Food vendors who did not apply for Sojo Summerfest will not be accepted for this event

Because you paid an application fee for SoJo Summerfest, we are not charging an application fee for this event. 

Prepared food vendors must follow all regulations for the Utah Health Department, and the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. Be sure to read the Policies and Procedures Manual as we stick to it. 

We do have a limit of 6 food vendors.

Food vendors may set up as early as 3:00 PM on June 3, 2025.  

Food vendors may not leave before 8:00 PM. 

• Foods made primarily for consumption at the market are called "Prepared Foods" and there are many rules and regulations about these products. Government fees to sell prepared or ready-to-eat food may apply. We advise potential vendors to consult the Salt Lake County Health Department regarding temporary events. • Food that is prepared and packaged off site (and NOT offered for sampling) is regulated by the Utah Department of Agriculture: CLICK HERE for UDAF Website 
• Per Utah regulations all permits must be displayed in your booth or you will not be allowed to offer prepared or sampled foods on site. 
• Sampling is permitted provided that the person handling the food has a current food handler permit, a hand-washing station, and abides by all food safety standards. (Food Handler Permit must be electronically uploaded with your application.
• Food Vendors preparing items with the use of propane and/or electricity must be pre-approved in the application process. Space is limited.
• Propane cooking equipment must be 5 ft. from the public and 5 ft. from both your & your neighbors’ canopies or structure and be secured with caution tape. 
• Booths used for cooking must be fire-resistant.
• All vendors using propane will be required to provide a sketch of their booth set up showing compliance with all space regulations and to be approved by the Fire Marshal. 
• Food vendors must provide their own liability insurance and add a rider naming South Jordan City, SoJo Markets LLC and Empowered Community Markets as additional insureds. 
• It is preferred that all service items be recyclable. 
• As a food vendor you agree to provide one (1) meal to one (1) Empowered Community Markets staff per market date (one serving, to a single person).
• Prepared food vendors must upload their permits to their vendor profile, AND have them posted in their booth/truck/trailer.
• Food trucks/trailers must upload their Yellow Fire Inspection sticker to their application.
• Food trucks/trailers must upload their Mobile Food Vending Permit to their application
• Food trucks/trailers/booths must upload their Commercial Kitchen licenses.
• Food trucks/trailers must upload their Health Inspection to their application.
• Food trucks/trailers must upload their Business License to their application.

SALES TAX

• All vendors are required to collect sales tax from their customers and remit the sales tax to the Utah State Tax Commission. This is accomplished through a Special Event Sales Tax Form (you cannot remit these taxes on your usual tax form). Sojo Summerfest 2025 will request these licenses from the State of Utah, and we will assign you a license number for the event. If you do not have a business license, this form will serve as your business license for the duration of the event.
• Sales tax collections and remittances are the sole responsibility of the sellers. If you are accepted into the market and are subject to sales tax collection, we will submit your information to the Utah Special Events State Sales Tax Office at the end of the season and they will get in touch with you regarding how to file your State Sale Tax with them. 
• The Special Event Tax Commission will send your tax form directly to you after the event (usually within 2 weeks). If you do not receive your form contact the Special Event Tax COmmission directly at specialevent@utah.gov or 801-297-6303.
