Colors of Sound: Celebrating Black Art, Music, and Community 

 *Presented by Suite One and Shea Budda Arts* 

Launching in January 2025, Colors of Sound brings a soulful twist to Joliet’s art scene, reimagining the classic “paint and sip” as an intimate, dynamic space where Black art and music shine. This event series offers local artists and musicians an inspiring platform to create, connect, and engage with the community in a setting full of warmth, creativity, and soul.  

What to Expect at Colors of Sound   
 **For Visual Artists**   
Share your creative journey live, engage with community members and fellow artists, and showcase your talent. As a participant, you’ll have a dedicated space to create, display 1-2 originals, plus prints and small novelties, with 100% of sales going directly to you. We provide an easel, utility cart w/palette, chair & table, and display space, with an affordable rental option for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 
**For Musicians**   
Take the stage to share your sound in genres like neo-soul, R&B, jazz, blues, and hip-hop, connecting with an intimate audience of up to 50 guests Friday Evenings. Colors of Sound offers a welcoming platform for both seasoned performers and those seeking to hone their craft in a supportive space.  
Schedule 
Monday & Wednesday 10 AM - 3 PM   
Friday Evening Event: 7 PM - 10 PM with DJ or Live Performance 
Setup 1 hour prior to each session 
If selected, the entry fees are listed below  
$100 for all three days 
Once approved, payment is kindly requested by December 15th to confirm your dates.

Why Join Colors of Sound? 

More than an event, Colors of Sound is a movement that celebrates Black creativity and culture. We offer a nurturing environment where artists retain full creative control, keep all profits, and connect with a like-minded audience. Plus, each artist receives one complimentary guest pass for Friday evening performances. 
Space is limited. Selected artists will be notified by December 10th, with payment due by December 15th to secure participation. 

Colors of Soul: Visual Artist Guidelines

What’s Allowed:

Original Artwork: Artists may display up to two original pieces, ensuring dimensions and weight are manageable. Please confirm with the event team for size and weight restrictions.
Prints and Novelties: Small prints and unique novelty items are highly encouraged, providing attendees with a range of accessible and portable options.
Light and Portable Displays: Keep your setup simple and space-efficient to enhance the event’s creative flow.
What’s Not Allowed:

Large Inventory or Heavy Items: To maintain a seamless experience for all, oversized or cumbersome displays are discouraged.
Smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited within the event space to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
Important Note: Original pieces can remain on display for the duration of the week; however, all items for sale must be taken home daily to accommodate other planned activities. Thank you for contributing to the vibrant spirit of Colors of Soul!
