But before the excitement begins, join us at The Mercantile to admire the dazzling sleighs on display and cast your vote for the crowd's favorite sled, with the help of the Grinch himself. As the races commence, prepare for heart-pounding action as businesses go head-to-head in a thrilling sled showdown until a champion emerges. The victorious team will claim the prestigious ChristmasVille Cup, earning the title of Inaugural Cup Champions. Get Ready for the Ultimate ChristmasVille Cup Sleigh Race!
 
Are you ready to experience the thrill and excitement of ChristmasVille like never before? Join us for the ChristmasVille Cup Sleigh Race, a festive and exhilarating event where teams of five compete in a high-energy race through the heart of Old Town Rock Hill. 
 
Event Details:  
  • Date: Friday, December 6th  
  • Time: Races begin at 3 PM  
  • Location(TENTATIVE): Starting at the top of Fountain Park (intersection of E. Main Street & Elizabeth) and racing down approximately 200 yards!

  • Cheerful Atmosphere: Enjoy the festive ambiance, with spectators lining the streets, cheering you on as you race to the finish line.  
  • Santa’s Helpers: Each team will be guided by one of Santa’s Helpers, ensuring everything runs smoothly and adding an extra touch of Christmas magic.  
  • Award Ceremony: Celebrate your victories and share the joy with your team at the award ceremony immediately following the race.
Important Information:  
  • Eligibility: Open to participants 18 years and older, employed by or related to Old Town business owners.  
  • Safety First: Helmets, gloves, and eye protection are mandatory. Additional protective gear is recommended.  
  • Registration Deadline: Register your team and sleigh by Tuesday, October 1st. No day-of entries allowed.  
  • Costume and Sleigh Guidelines: Embrace the holiday spirit with family-friendly costumes and sleigh decorations.

Terms & Conditions

Participant Requirements:
  • All participants must be at least 18 years old, employed by a business in Old Town, or be a relative of the business owner.
  • All participants will need to be present on the day of the race and sign a liability waiver at check-in. 
  • Each team must consist of 5 members. At least one team member must ride the sleigh, while the remaining members push/pull it. It is recommended to have backup team members in case of emergencies on the day of the race.
  • If one business can not supply 5 players, businesses are allowed to combine to create a team of 5. 
Registration
  • All team members and their sleigh must be registered by Tuesday, October 1st. No day-of entries will be allowed.
  • If your team withdraws after Friday, November 15th, a $50 no-show fee will be charged.
Sleigh Requirements
  • Sleighs must have a standard twin-size mattress and no sharp objects.
  • Four securely attached wheels are required; wheels can be any size.
  • Sleighs must have ropes or handles for pulling/pushing. No motors, electronics, kicking, or paddling allowed.
  • Sleighs must roll from check-in to the start and back.
  • Broken sleighs unable to roll will be disqualified.
Safety:
  • Helmets, gloves, and eye protection are required.
  • Additional protective gear such as pads is highly suggested but not required.
  • Please ensure all team members are equipped for physical exertion.
  • If you have health concerns, you should not participate.
Decorations and Costumes:
  • Decorations and costumes must be family-friendly.
  • Inappropriate items will result in disqualification.
  • No political decorations or messages are allowed.
  • No decorations with curse words, slang, or offensive content will be permitted.
Integrity: 
  • As we are all adults, please ensure you are playing fair.
  • This is meant to be a friendly competition, let's keep it that way.
  • Cheating of any kind will result in immediate disqualification. 

 

Hold Harmless Agreement
By submitting this application, the applicant and all team members shall indemnify and hold harmless ChristmasVille, the City of Rock Hill, and the Old Town Association, its agents, volunteers, elected officials and employees from and against all losses, costs, damages, expense, and liability caused by an accident or other occurrence in bodily injury, including death, sickness and disease to any persons, or damage or destruction to property, real or personal, arising directly or indirectly from Applicant’s involvement in ChristmasVille activities.  
 
Applicant agrees to waive, release and discharge ChristmasVille, the City of Rock Hill, and the Old Town Association, its agents, volunteers, elected officials and employees, of and from any and all claims, demands, costs, liability and causes of action whatsoever that may arise as a result of Applicant’s participation in ChristmasVille, including but not limited to, any claims, causes of action, liability, damages, demands and costs related to injury to any of the Applicant’s person or property.
 
This waiver and release shall inure to the benefit of ChristmasVille, the City of Rock Hill, and the Old Town Association and shall bind applicant along with its employees, heirs, legal representatives, assigns and successors in interest of the Applicant or any member thereof.
 
I represent that I am the person whose name appears on this application, and that I viewed and understand this Hold Harmless Agreement and the rules, regulations, and guidelines provided.  I acknowledge and agree to the statements, terms, and conditions in this application, and that by submitting this application, I am providing electronic agreement to these terms that will have the same legal effect as signing the document with a written signature, which shall be valid evidence of my intent and agreement to be bound.

Prices

Cancellation Fees $50 Non-refundable If your team withdraws after Friday, November 15th, a $50 no-show fee will be charged. If not, you will not be charged at all.
After Dark T-Shirt Add On $25 Non-refundable If you would like to purchase an After Dark t-shirt for one or all of your participants to wear, please select the quantity.
