About the event

The Charlotte Chalk Art Festival (CCAF2024), a FREE, family-friendly two-day festival, will be held at NoDa Brewing Company North End, 150 W 32nd St, Charlotte, NC 28206 on October 19th and 20th from 12pm to 5pm each day. CCAF features a street chalk art competition for ages 12-17 and 18+. Festival goers will watch and cheer on the competitors and the artists creating the street chalk art gallery while enjoying various art-focused activities, music, and performance offerings, patronizing our curated arts, crafts, retail, food, and beverage vendors.

About the application

Two day commitment, October 19th & 20th. Let us know if you only have 2 youth team members instead of three. Read EVERYTHING. You will NOT be charged the application fee until you are accepted. All fees charged go to support this annual festival. CCAF provides some supplies, lunch on both days, and a t-shirt to each artist.
 
The Charlotte Chalk Art Festival (CCAF) will host a Chalk Art Competition for Youth ages 12-17 and Adults 18+ on October 19 and 20 from 12pm to 5pm.
 
Apply to contribute to our annual chalk art street gallery and win Cash Prizes as follows: Individual Youth 12-17 - 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $125, 3rd Place $75, Youth Team (3ppl) 12-17 - 1st Place ONLY $300, and Adult 18+ 1st Place $400, 2nd Place $250, 3rd Place $100. Local artists will serve as judges.
 
CCAF2024 will take place at NoDa Brewing Company's North End location, 150 W 32nd St, Charlotte, NC 28206. CCAF2024 is produced by Creative Canvas Productions, LLC, with sponsorship support from Eventful Expressions, NPC, NoDa Brewing, and Jerry's Artarama Charlotte

Terms & Conditions

Your application must be filled out completely.
 
Artists must submit a SKETCH and Description of their proposed artwork, 2 sample images of past chalk artwork, 1 of any artwork, and 1 social media usable head shot image in .jpg or .png form.
 
If selected, you will be asked to sign a waiver and a deadline for submitting that form will be provided at time of acceptance.
 
Artists will be notified starting in July until no later than October 7, 2024 if they have been selected to participate.
 
Priority goes to artists located in the surrounding Charlotte, North Carolina and South Carolina areas. Not all who apply will be accepted. You are REQUIRED to be onsite BOTH days. On October 19th and 20th, please arrive no later than 10:45am for check-in, chalking begins at 11:00am each day.
 
Artists must complete their chalk art submission by 4:15pm each day.
 
To be considered for either youth category, you must turn 12 by October 18, 2024 or still be age 17 by the festival end date of October 20, 2024. All youth must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who will agree to stay on-site both days. Accompanying parent/guardian may not assist any selected artists.
 
The Charlotte Chalk Art Festival committee reserves the right to deny any application for any reason.
 
If accepted, you will be REQUIRED to sign a Waiver Form.
 
CCAF2024 is a two-day RAIN OR SHINE EVENT EXCEPT DURING SEVERE WEATHER STORMS – NO REFUNDS WILL BE PROVIDED ONCE ACCEPTED.
 
CCAF2024 committee reserves the right to CLOSE the festival on either day due to extreme weather or public safety concerns, without refund to artist. We reserve the right to POSTPONE the festival prior to October 19th should there be an in advance warning of extreme weather, without refund to artist. Should there be a POSTPONEMENT, the festival will be moved to dates TBD and all approved artists will retain their spot, without refund to artist.

Picture requirements

  • Minimum pictures required: 4
  • Each Chalk Art Artist Applicant must provide a SKETCH and description of their PROPOSED ARTWORK, 2 sample images of past chalk artwork, 1 of any artwork, and 1 social media usable head shot image in .jpg or .png form. Your proposed and FINAL Artwork for the festival must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages. No words, symbols or logos intended as advertising may appear within the chalk drawing image. Art may be original or reproductions of other works. If art is a reproduction, the original artist must be credited in a visible location right under your piece.
