It is a tribute to the nation’s oldest incorporated & self-governed African American municipality, a place where the roots of resilience and empowerment run deep. Our event showcases the vibrant arts and humanities of our heritage, while also promoting economic growth and development for our future. Every first Saturday in Eatonville!

About the application

Welcome to the 1887 Night Market! Browse through our applications and let us know if you have any questions. This is an electronic agreement and by selecting the booths, you are validating and approving this agreement electronically. Categories: Artists may apply in up to 3 categories. You must submit a separate application for each category. If you sell jewelry, you may apply in a category other than Jewelry if jewelry is less than 10% of your items for sale. Otherwise, you must apply in Jewelry. All work displayed in the booth must be for sale. Clay: Original clay and porcelain work, functional or sculptural. Fiber: Includes wearable and non-wearable. No machine-tooled, machine-screen printing, or other forms of mass production are accepted. Glass: Functional and sculptural work is accepted. Kiln forming, blowing, molding, or casting, as well as all cold working processes are permitted. Jewelry: Only those artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry. Items made from commercial parts may not be exhibited. Metal: Sculptural or decorative work made from metal. No jewelry will be accepted in this category. Mixed Media: Work which combines materials from two or more mediums in one piece. Musical Instruments: Handmade instruments. Natural Materials: This includes basket weaving, chair caning, brooms, gourds, and other works made from materials found in nature. Photography: Includes traditional film photography, hand-colored images, emulsion transfers, and digital photography. Only artist’s original source material is acceptable. Printmaking: Only hand-pulled original prints are allowed. Prints must be in limited editions, signed, and numbered. Sculpture: Three-dimensional work using additive or subtractive processes in a single medium. Two-Dimensional: Drawing, painting, and digital works. Reproduction prints are not allowed. Wood: Original works that are hand tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved.

Terms & Conditions

Application Process:
Artists interested in participating in the 1887 Night Market must submit an application form provided by the event organizers.
Submission of the application form does not guarantee acceptance into the event. All applications will be reviewed by the event organizers, and acceptance will be based on criteria such as artistic quality, creativity, and relevance to the event theme.
Artwork Requirements:
Accepted artists must display original artwork that aligns with the theme and atmosphere of the Night Market.
Artwork must be suitable for public display and must not contain any offensive or inappropriate content.
Booth Setup and Display:
Artists are responsible for providing their own display materials, such as easels, tables, and signage, for showcasing their artwork.
Booth setups must be aesthetically pleasing and conducive to attracting visitors to the artist's display area.
Artists must ensure that their booth setups do not obstruct pedestrian traffic or impede access to neighboring booths.
Sales and Transactions:
All sales transactions must be conducted directly between the artist and the customer.
Artists are responsible for accurately recording sales and reporting income as required by law.
Event organizers are not responsible for facilitating sales or transactions on behalf of the artists.
Liability and Insurance:
Artists participate in the 1887 Night Market at their own risk. Event organizers are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur during the event.
Artists are encouraged to obtain their own liability insurance coverage to protect against any unforeseen incidents or accidents.
Booth Assignment and Setup:
Booth assignments will be determined by the event organizers and communicated to accepted artists prior to the event.
Artists must adhere to the designated setup times and instructions provided by the event organizers.
Booth setups must be completed by the specified deadline to ensure that the event runs smoothly and on schedule.
Cleanup and Departure:
Artists are responsible for cleaning up their booth area at the conclusion of the event and disposing of any waste or debris generated during their participation.
Booth areas must be left in the same condition as they were found, with all materials and belongings removed from the premises.
Compliance with Event Policies:
Artists must comply with all event policies and regulations as outlined by the 1887 Night Market organizers.
Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in expulsion from the event without refund.
