Spring Trays with Amy Smoot: March 2025

Create a spring themed Tray in this one-day workshop! Students will be shown how to build their tray out of slabs of clay and will be able to fully customize their creations with personalized images, designs, or textures. Once finished with building, students will paint their tray with a variety of colorful glazes. This class is for all ages, but participants 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. If you and your child would both like to create a tray, you must purchase one spot for each participant. ​ Trays will be fired and available to pick up in Kentuck’s Gallery Shop 2-3 weeks from the date of class. Participants will be contacted via email once they’re ready for pick up. Instructed by Amy Smoot, this workshop will be held in Kentuck's Clay Studio at 2014 5th St. This class has a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 16 participants. If the class fails to meet the minimum, participants will be refunded. About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is the Clay Studio manager at Kentuck. She is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.
