Young anglers and families, save the date for the Prosper Fishing Derby! There's no need to register for this free community event, just come out to the park, cast your line, and have some fun!
The annual Derby is a friendly competition held exclusively for young anglers ages 14, and under and a great opportunity to introduce the kids to the sport of fishing. Prizes will be awarded in the following age categories: 0-4; 5-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; and 13-14.
Prior to the event, the large pond at Frontier Park will be stocked by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (mostly with rainbow trout). During the event, judges will be stationed around the pond to chart and tally the catches of the day. After the event, head to the Frontier Park pavilion near Windmill Playground for the prize awards for Most Fish Caught in various age divisions.
Make sure to say hello to the Prosper High School Bass Fishing Team at the Derby! Members will be on hand to lend fishing tips and expertise.
