Experience Pacific Island Culture at Chamblee’s “Performance in the Park”
The vibrant sights, sounds, and stories of the Pacific Islands will take center stage at this year’s “Performance in the Park,” a new initiative by Chamblee’s Public Arts Commission, featuring an unforgettable performance by Mahealani’s Polynesian Revue.
This free, family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the greenspace of Chamblee City Hall, located at 3518 Broad Street, Chamblee, GA 30341, offering a day of cultural celebration and community connection in recognition of American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
“This event is all about celebrating the beauty and diversity of Pacific Island cultures in a fun and welcoming way,” said Teneisha Jones, Public Arts Manager. “We want folks of all ages and backgrounds to come out, experience something new, and feel part of what makes Chamblee so special.”
Guests will be transported to the islands of Hawai’i, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Samoa through dynamic performances that include traditional and contemporary Polynesian dance, live drumming, and colorful costumes. There will also be hands-on cultural learning stations, fun photo-ops, local eats, sweet treats, Hawaiian comfort food from Hapa Kitchen Food Truck and more! Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
