About the event

The Mush, Music & Mutts: NC Liver Mush Festival returns LIVE in 2021! While things will look a little different, we are excited to be able to host both in-person and virtual elements this year! Live music, wonderful arts & crafts, food and other vendors along with the namesake for our event - Liver Mush"! Enjoy freshly prepared Liver Mush sandwiches sold by local producers of this well-loved "delicacy"! Stay tuned for details on our Video Cooking contest. Check out our YouTube Videos for last year's event! We will also still be celebrating our "Mutts" part of the festival! Pick out a fun costume for your pet and stay tuned for how to enter the live or the virtual pet costume contest!

Planning for in-person event for our 2021 Festival.  We are still planning to have some fun online leading up to the festival date.  Stay tuned for more details on the 2021 Video Cooking Contest.  We will also be doing giveaways throughout the day.

Home to music legends Earl Scruggs and Don Gibson, music roots run deep in this community!  That's why music is an important part of this festival!

Liver Mush Sandwiches

Local Liver Mush Companies are represented at the festival, selling hot sandwiches.  Lines get long but we hear over and over that it's worth the wait to get that hot, fresh livermush on a soft bun.  Other vendors and local restaurants also offer a variety of liver mush options.

Pet Costume Contest and

Stay tuned for updates from our partners at RollOver Pets regarding the Mutts portion of our festival.  We will also again celebrate with a virtual pet costume contest.  Top 3 will also receive shout outs!  Mojo was the top winner for 2020.  Check out the Mack's Liver Mush costume complete with Duke's Mayo!

Liver mush Eating Contest

How brave are you?  Have a big appetite?  Like cold, hard...cash?  Participate in the annual Liver Mush Eating Contest.  Top winner receives cash prize.  It's served in the package..cold...and part of the timing requires getting into the package/s you consume!  Condiments provided.  (Liver Mush is fully cooked and safe to consume straight from the package...though most  prefer to eat it served hot and crispy!)

Liver Mush Recipe Contest

How many ways can Liver Mush be enjoyed?  Many people like it split and dropped (cut thin and deep fried) but there are many ways to enjoy.  In the annual recipe contest there have been pizzas, enchilades, salads, lasagna, waffles and more!  Cash Prizes to top 3 spots.
