Lawrenceville Art Commission Community Mural 2025

Starts on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025
Lawrenceville, Georgia, United States
About the event
The Lawrenceville Art Commission is creating a collaborative community mural on a high-visibility wall at a key gateway near Georgia Gwinnett College. The goal of this mural is to make Lawrenceville Square a destination location for art, welcome drivers and pedestrians to Lawrenceville Square, and positively impact the success of downtown businesses while engaging community members in creating the mural. The artist Angela Bortone entitled her mural “Magnolias on a Sweet Breeze” which she descibes it as being about the calming yet invigorating quality of carefully observing nature and taking in the present moment. Inspired by the multifunctional appeal of our parks — places designed for movement & meditation where community to come together. In a limited color palette of greens and blues, this design is will add color to the heavily cemented lot near Georgia Gwinnett College. Angela's design will feature a hidden element, or “easter egg,” as part of a community scavenger hunt that the Arts Commission is building organically within each piece of art created. Similar to how Lawrenceville Blooms has a small elephant and Have a Beautiful Day in Lawrenceville features a small dog, this mural will include a Grizzly Bear, tying into the Georgia Gwinnett College mascot. The City of Lawrenceville and the Lawrenceville Arts Commission invite you to join us as we drive art forward. Register you, your family, friends, and more to paint alongside muralist Angela Bortone. Community painting days will include April 24th between 3pm - 6pm and April 27th 11am - 2pm. Please register for your prefered time slot.
