The City of Norcross' purpose is to educate and inform the public about the rich African American culture and history found in Gwinnett County!
On Sunday, June 19th, join us at Thrasher Park to celebrate the African-American spirit triumphing over Slavery. Two years and a half after the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 freed enslaved people in slave-held states, those who were held captive out west and beyond did not receive the news. General Order #3 arrived in Texas on June 19, 1865, to inform the enslaved people that they were no longer property.
Juneteenth was established. We celebrate the strength, endurance, and perseverance of African American people and their connection to the African Diaspora. Learn about the culture; traditions, music, art, food and come have just plain good ole family fun. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Join us, Gwinnett NAACP, RevUp, OneDayOnTheNawf along with our host The City of Norcross making all of us, "Better Together".
