About the event
The International Somerville Street Fair is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of global cultures, bringing together music, dance, art, and interactive experiences from around the world. Hosted in the heart of Downtown Somerville, this event will transform Main Street and Division Street into an open-air festival, featuring live performances, cultural demonstrations, artisan vendors, and interactive activities for all ages. Attendees will enjoy a diverse marketplace with handcrafted goods, international artisans, and unique cultural exhibits, while the main stage will showcase live music and traditional dance performances. A variety of interactive workshops, including calligraphy, henna art, and world dance classes, will provide immersive cultural experiences. Vendor Information: We are accepting applications for artisan, craft, and cultural vendors offering authentic handmade goods, artwork, and globally inspired merchandise. Food vendor spots will be limited to ensure that the focus remains on supporting our local restaurants. Preference will be given to culturally diverse food vendors that complement the event theme.

The International Somerville Street Fair welcomes talented artists and makers to showcase and sell their work in a vibrant cultural marketplace. We are carefully selecting artists and creators who offer high-quality, unique, and well-crafted pieces, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for attendees.

Please note: To maintain a balanced marketplace, we will limit the number of vendors offering similar products. We strongly encourage applicants to carefully consider whether this event is a good fit for their work based on the market and audience. Our goal is to create an event that is both lucrative for vendors and engaging for attendees.

Eligible artists may include (but are not limited to):
? Fine art (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.)
? Handcrafted goods (jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, etc.)
? Cultural or heritage-based art that reflects international traditions

Tents, tables, and chairs are NOT provided but are available for rent. If you need any of these items, please indicate so in your application, and additional fees will apply.

The International Somerville Street Fair welcomes a diverse selection of food vendors to bring unique and delicious flavors to our community event. Priority will be given to local restaurants within the Somerville district, while outside food vendors will be considered on a case-by-case basis to complement our culinary offerings.

All food vendors must:

  • Obtain and submit the required health department permits and schedule inspections at least 14 days prior to the event (by May 18, 2025).
  • Follow all state and local health regulations related to food handling and sales.
  • Provide their own setup, including cooking equipment, serving tables, and waste disposal.
  • Clearly indicate any electricity needs in the application (subject to approval).

Food vendors who need a tent, table, or chairs must indicate so in the application. Additional fees will apply for rentals.

The International Somerville Street Fair welcomes businesses, banks, corporate brands, and other establishments that wish to engage with the community, promote their services, or sell products that do not fall into the categories of food, art, or nonprofit organizations. Whether you are looking to increase brand awareness, offer promotional giveaways, or sell general merchandise, this event provides a fantastic opportunity to connect with a diverse audience in a lively, cultural setting.

Important Notes:

  • Direct sales and promotional giveaways are permitted.
  • All businesses must provide their own setup (tent, table, and chairs), or request rentals in their application.
  • Tents, tables, and chairs are NOT provided but are available for rent. If requested in the application, rental fees will be charged upon approval and are non-negotiable and non-refundable.
  • This event is not exclusive to businesses with a cultural theme, but priority may be given to those that align with the event’s vision of international and multicultural engagement.

The International Somerville Street Fair encourages participation from local 501(c)(3) organizations and community groups that align with the spirit of cultural celebration, education, or community engagement. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness, fundraise, and connect with attendees.

Non-profits must:

  • Provide proof of 501(c)(3) status or a letter of verification upon request.
  • Have an engaging booth setup that aligns with their mission.
  • Follow all event regulations regarding distribution of materials, fundraising, and giveaways.

If you need a tent, table, or chairs, please indicate this in the application. Additional fees will apply for rentals.

Terms & Conditions
1. Event Overview The International Somerville Street Fair will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM in Downtown Somerville, NJ. Vendors must comply with all guidelines to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful event for all participants. 2. Vendor Eligibility & Selection Vendors do not need to be officially aligned with the cultural theme of the event; however, priority will be given to those that offer cultural flair through their products, services, or presentation. Food Vendors: Priority will be given to local restaurants within the Somerville district. Outside food vendors will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with a focus on offerings that complement rather than compete with existing local restaurants. All vendors must submit a completed application and full payment by the stated deadline. 3. Booth Space & Setup Vendors will be assigned a 10’x10’ space (unless otherwise specified). Vendors may provide their own tables, chairs, displays, and tent canopies (if applicable). Tables, chairs and pop up tents are available for rent, if needed. Please indicate your need in the application submission. All tents must be properly weighted (minimum 40 lbs per leg) to ensure safety in case of wind. No stakes may be driven into the pavement. Setup begins at 8:00 AM, and all vendors must be fully set up by 11:30 AM. Late arrivals may be denied entry without a refund. Vendors must remain in their designated area and may not extend into walkways, neighboring spaces, or fire lanes. There will be no early breakdown for any reason. 4. Food Vendor Requirements Any and all food-related businesses must submit the necessary health department permits and follow through with required inspections a minimum of 14 days prior to the event (by May 18, 2025). Failure to complete the health department approval process by the deadline may prohibit your attendance at the event, and vendor fees will not be refunded in such cases. Food vendors must adhere to all local and state health regulations regarding food handling and service. 5. Fees & Payment Vendor fees are non-refundable within 72 hours of the event (after May 29, 2025). If you need to cancel or cannot attend, refunds will be issued on or before May 29, 2025. Requests made after this date, for any reason, will not be refunded. Payment must be submitted in full with the application to secure a vendor space. 6. Permits & Compliance Vendors are responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal regulations related to their business. 7. Load-In & Load-Out Procedures Vendors will receive detailed load-in and load-out instructions on May 29th. Vehicles are not permitted in the event area after the designated setup period. Vendors must pack up and vacate the area by 8:00 PM. No early breakdowns are allowed. 8. Power & Utilities Electricity is not provided. Open flames, propane tanks, or other hazardous materials must be approved in advance. 9. Waste Disposal & Clean-Up Vendors are responsible for keeping their space clean and disposing of all trash properly. Food vendors must have a waste disposal plan, including proper grease/oil disposal (no dumping in street drains). Vendors must leave their area in the same condition as found. A cleanup fee may be charged for failure to comply. 10. Weather Policy This is an outdoor, rain-or-shine event. Vendors must prepare for varying weather conditions. In the case of severe weather (lightning, high winds, or extreme conditions), organizers will determine if postponement or cancellation is necessary. If the event is completely cancelled, refunds will be issued. Application fees will not be refunded. 11. Liability & Insurance Vendors participate at their own risk and must carry appropriate liability insurance. The Downtown Somerville Alliance and the Borough of Somerville are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property. Vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming Downtown Somerville Alliance and the Borough of Somerville as additional insured parties if required. 12. Prohibited Items & Activities Vendors may not sell counterfeit or illegal items, weapons, alcohol, tobacco, or any hazardous materials. Amplified sound is not allowed at vendor booths unless pre-approved as part of an interactive demonstration. Vendors may not distribute flyers, brochures, or promotional materials outside of their assigned booth space. 13. Code of Conduct Vendors must conduct themselves professionally and respectfully. Harassment, disruptive behavior, or failure to comply with event staff instructions will result in removal without refund. Vendors must respect event organizers, neighboring booths and event attendees. Any inappropriate or rude behavior towards event organizers or volunteers will result in immediate removal without refund and no longer considered for future events in Downtown Somerville. 14. Acceptance of Terms By submitting an application and payment, vendors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event without refund.
