The village will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM.

 

THIS APPLICATION IS FOR JANUARY WEEKENDS ONLY. 1/4, 1/5, 1/11, 1/12, 1/18 & 1/19. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH INTEREST FOR THIS EXTENDED TIMING, THE POP UP WILL CLOSE ON DECEMBER 29th. ANY APPLICATION FEES SUBMITTED FOR JANUARY WILL BE REFUNDED.

 

Updated Commitment for Pop-Up Shop

Please note that the pop-up shop commitment has been changed from a week to just one day. We understand the importance of flexibility, and this change is made to better meet the needs of both participants and the event. We're excited about this new format and look forward to having you be part of it!

 

This pop-up has limited vendor spots available. To be chosen, your business must meet the following requirements:

  • Must not sell food, packaged or otherwise.
  • Products must be high quality and handmade. We will not be accepting any resellers or drop-shippers.
  • Must not conflict directly with established Downtown Somerville businesses.
  • Vendors will be required to handle their own sales, marketing, and maintaining their booth space.
  • Vendors must be willing to submit to a background check
  • All approved vendors are required to submit a Certificate of Insurance (see terms & conditions below)

The DSA team will select vendors that offer complimentary shopping in the downtown district and will not conflict in any way with established retail in Somerville. Space fees are non-negotiable and will be submitted in accordance with terms and conditions.

Terms & Conditions
This market is intended to draw holiday shoppers to town for a unique gift shopping experience for an extended time. Vendors should be focused on retail sales of gift-able items including but not necessarily limited to: toys and games, clothing, decorative objects, arts and crafts, greeting cards, and gift wrap. Merchants are prohibited from selling any food or drink (even if pre-packaged), alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or firearms. Licenses & Permits We have secured the necessary zoning approvals for this market. Vendors are not required to obtain any local licenses or permits, but are responsible for collecting and paying their own sales tax and payroll taxes (if applicable). Open Hours Vendors are expected to be open for business during the days and hours listed. If you are unable to attend on a day/time, please secure your items appropriately. Additional notes on security will be provided upon approval of your application and agreement to participate in this event. Pre holiday hours are: Friday, Dec. 6, 4 to 9 pm Saturdays 10am to 7pm Sundays 10am to 4pm *Hours will reduce following the new year Insurance All vendors must maintain business insurance in the following types and amounts: Commercial General Liability insurance -- Occurrence Form (minimum limits $1,000,000 per claim / $2,000,000 annual aggregate). Workers Compensation insurance -- statutory limits (only required if you will have any workers -- regardless of employment status). *Optional* Property insurance covering your equipment, supplies, and furnishings at the holiday market. Vendors are responsible for insuring their own business contents. Prior to move-in, vendors must provide currently dated certificates of insurance naming Downtown Somerville Alliance, Borough of Somerville, and Somerville Realty as "additional insured". The certificate holder should read "Downtown Somerville Alliance, 50 Division St, Ste 501, Somerville NJ 08876".
