This market is intended to draw holiday shoppers to town for a unique gift shopping experience for an extended time. Vendors should be focused on retail sales of gift-able items including but not necessarily limited to: toys and games, clothing, decorative objects, arts and crafts, greeting cards, and gift wrap. Merchants are prohibited from selling any food or drink (even if pre-packaged), alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or firearms.
Licenses & Permits
We have secured the necessary zoning approvals for this market. Vendors are not required to obtain any local licenses or permits, but are responsible for collecting and paying their own sales tax and payroll taxes (if applicable).
Open Hours
Vendors are expected to be open for business during the days and hours listed. If you are unable to attend on a day/time, please secure your items appropriately. Additional notes on security will be provided upon approval of your application and agreement to participate in this event.
Pre holiday hours are:
Friday, Dec. 6, 4 to 9 pm
Saturdays 10am to 7pm
Sundays 10am to 4pm
*Hours will reduce following the new year
Insurance
All vendors must maintain business insurance in the following types and amounts:
Commercial General Liability insurance -- Occurrence Form (minimum limits $1,000,000 per claim / $2,000,000 annual aggregate).
Workers Compensation insurance -- statutory limits (only required if you will have any workers -- regardless of employment status).
*Optional* Property insurance covering your equipment, supplies, and furnishings at the holiday market. Vendors are responsible for insuring their own business contents.
Prior to move-in, vendors must provide currently dated certificates of insurance naming Downtown Somerville Alliance, Borough of Somerville, and Somerville Realty as "additional insured". The certificate holder should read "Downtown Somerville Alliance, 50 Division St, Ste 501, Somerville NJ 08876".
