About the event
Lighting the Bridge Our Way! Project Pride SRQ invites you to be part of history as we march the country's largest progressive pride flag across the Ringling Bridge. This event is a powerful response to recent restrictions from the Governor that prevent the bridge from being lit in rainbow colors for Pride Month, as well as in distinctive colors for Juneteenth, National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and other important causes. By coming together, we are exercising our freedoms and lighting the bridge our way, ensuring that no one can dim our light or take away the visibility of our diverse community! Event Details: Date: June 29th, 2024 Time: 9:00 AM Location: Ringling Bridge 920 John Ringling Causeway Sarasota, FL 34236 Parking: Parking at Ringling Bridge is very limited. We recommend parking near Marina Jack or using one of the downtown parking garages and walking over to the bridge. Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk. Start Time: The rally starts promptly at 9am, so be sure to arrive on time! What to Wear: Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes that keep you cool and comfortable. We encourage you to show your pride in your own unique way! Witness a stunning display of unity and pride as we come together with our 700-foot-long Grand Flag. This event is not just a march; it's a powerful statement of resilience and community strength. With several hundred, possibly almost one thousand, people expected to attend, your presence will help light up the bridge with our colorful and united spirit. We’re ending Pride Month in a huge way, and this event will have national media attention! Speakers: Jason Champion: PPSRQ President Zander Moricz: Founder & Executive Director of SEE Alliance  Jules Rayne: Equality Florida Community Organizer Kira-Lynn Ferderber: Planned Parenthood Outreach Educator & Community Liaison Sarah Parker: Executive Director of Voices of Florida Tsi Day Smyth: VP of Voices of Florida Don't miss this unique opportunity to show your pride and support for our community.
