Flight to Honor

SUN ‘n FUN is honored to be the grounds host for the annual Flight to Honor, giving our nations servicemen a special send off and returning reception for their special daytrip to Washington D.C. We have three different Volunteer opportunities to help make this once in a lifetime event even more memorable for these veterans. Sunday April 27, 2025, 1:45pm-4:30pm. Seeking volunteers to assist with general information, directions, parking assistance, support, set up and light clean up. Tuesday April 29, 2025 First Shift 3:00am-7:00am (yes that says am!). Seeking volunteers to assist with parking guidance and assistance in the dark for those veterans and guardians driving in for their early morning flight. Second Shift 4:45pm-9:00pm. Join us as we prepare for the Veterans’ return and enjoy a community event with kid-friendly events, food trucks, and vendors. We need volunteers to help with general assistance in all the social areas, shuttle service, and exit assistance during closing. The Event is free to the public, parking is free. If you are unable to volunteer then come and welcome these folks home from their journey. Sponsored by the POLK COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL Fundraising is underway to cover the cost of this effort.
