Description
The City of Lawrenceville is celebrating the expression of feelings that are brought by the sharing of stories through poetry by hosting an open mic- night. Bring poems of your own or some that inspire you. Performance slots will be on a first come first serve basis. Performance pieces must not be any longer than 5 minutes long. This is not a workshop or a critique session, but rather just a safe space that provides an opportunity to have fun and enjoy the evening with friends. No experience is necessary. You can read or just listen and enjoy the fun. There will be a workshop from 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM before the performances start. The workshop and Open-mic night will be hosted by Ashlee Haze an Atlanta-based spoken word artist and poet. She will be leading her micro-workshop called Petty Poetry: processing bitterness and anger through the writing of poetry. Ashlee will also perform at the end of the night and stick around after her performance for an informal Q&A.
