May flowers are going to be blooming at Kentuck Art Center! Students will learn how to pinch and form clay flowers to create your very own small floral bouquet that never wilts. Students will be able to create 4-5 different flowers and a small vase for them to sit in. Once students finish building their bouquet, they will have the opportunity to finish their flowers with bold glaze colors on the second day. This class has an all ages session and an adult session. The dates and times are as follows: Session A: Adults May 4th and 5th from 2-5pm Session B: All Ages May 11th and 12th from 2-5pm Children 16 and under who are registered for the all ages section must be accompanied by an adult. The adult can purchase their own ticket if they wish to participate in the class. There is a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 12. If the minimum is not met, participants will be refunded. About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is the Clay Studio Manager at Kentuck. She is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.   This workshop is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Holle Family Foundation.
