About the event
Have your aspiring artists join Molly Nelko and Sam Wolf this summer for an 8-week summer camp! In each session, participants will explore a variety of media and techniques. Let them learn about what it takes to be an artist—from creation to exhibiting their work—this is weekly hour and a half class at Kentuck while you take some time for you! At the end of the summer, your kids will help host their own art show here at Kentuck in the Teer Gallery to display their favorite pieces. Opening night will be on August Art Night, August 7, 2025, from 5-8 PM. Sign up for the whole summer for $200 There will be opportunities for two age groups to register. Session A: Tuesdays from 10am-11:30am: Ages 8-12. June: June 3: Pointillism self portraits June 10: Printmaking June 17: Collaboration June 24: Still Life painting July: July 1: Paper Mache July 15: Collage July 22: Show Prep July 29: Show Prep Session B: Wednesdays from 3-4:30pm: Ages 12-16. June June 4: Pointillism Self Portraits June 11: Printmaking June 18: Collaboration June 25: Still Life painting July: July 2: Paper Mache July 9: Collage July 16: Show Prep July 23: Show Prep This class will be located in the newly available Studio 2 which is located behind Rusty the big red dog on our campus. Look for the blue double doors in the Courtyard of Wonders! $200, all supplies are included. About Molly Nelko: A native of Mobile, AL, Molly Nelko has joined Kentuck’s staff as our Programming Assistant! She attended Springhill College and received a BA in fine art with a focus on oil painting and printmaking. Her work has been in individual exhibitions from Portland, OR to Hilton Head SC, and can be found online. Molly currently lives in Tuscaloosa with her husband, three children, and cat Quill. She has experimented with many different forms of art, and some of her favorites are encaustic, tessellations, and ink wash. Molly currently works in her studio regularly, but her focus has become more about enjoying creative projects with her children. About Sam Wolf: Samantha Wolf is an Australian-born, US-based composer, sound designer, and arts educator. Her music has been featured around the world, including by the Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Bang on a Can, the Sydney Opera House, Elision, Elm Shakespeare Company, the Australian National Academy of Music, and the Performing Media Festival at the South Bend Museum of Art. Samantha holds degrees from the Queensland Conservatorium, Melbourne University, and the Yale School of Music, where she was a President’s Public Service Fellow and the recipient of the prestigious Ezra Laderman Award. Other awards include the University of Sydney’s Sue W Composition Prize, Rubiks Collective’s Pythia Prize, Ensemble Offspring’s Noisy Women Commission, and a major project grant from Creative Australia. From 2022-2024, she was the inaugural Artist in Residence at the Longy School of Music in Boston, MA. Currently, Samantha is Visiting Professor in Composition at the University of Alabama School of Music, where she serves as Co-Artistic Director of the University of Alabama Contemporary Ensemble. This workshop is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

This class will be held in Studio 2 in Kentuck's Courtyard of Wonders! Map to 503 Main Ave. Northport, AL 35476 and look for Rusty, the big red dog. Studio 2 is located in the building behind Rusty--look for the double blue doors! There is a parking lot next to this building, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
