We are accepting applications for a Teaching Artist (TA), who has a background and passion for murals and arts education. The TA will oversee 2 "mini mural walls" (large canvases) that youth ages 5-16 can paint throughout the festival. The TA is encouraged to stencil an outline for the youth to fill in, for a theme of the TA's choice to be pitched in the application. At the conclusion of the festival, the mini murals will be gifted to the City Hall and/or the neighborhood association as part of Artscape's legacy.
The TA must be available for the following schedule, approximately 20 hours total:
- 1x 30-minute virtual meeting upon contract signing in April 2025
- 1x 30-minute site visit in May 2025 to explore the Artscape footprint
- Additional hours for potential shopping (or providing a shopping list to BOPA), and stenciling the mural outline
- Fingerprinting (or artist can provide proof of a recent background check); this is MANDATORY due to working with children
- Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 11am - 6pm for festival day 1

- $3,000 honorarium, inclusive of labor and materials (suggested allocation is $2,500 for artist labor and $500 for supplies such as canvas, easels, paint, paintbrushes, wet wipes, and gloves; the TA can collaborate with BOPA staff on securing affordable materials or exploring BOPA's inventory)
- At least 1 volunteer on Saturday and Sunday to assist with ensuring a safe and fun activity environment
- Tables and chairs upon request to reasonably provide a comfortable environment for the artist and youth; this is expected to be a stand-up activity
Interested artists (individuals and teams) of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
