About the application

In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) the tabletop role-playing game, the Dungeon Master (DM) is the game organizer and participant in charge of creating the details and challenges of a given adventure while maintaining a realistic continuity of events. In effect, the Dungeon Master controls all aspects of the game, except for the actions of the player characters (PCs), and describes to the players what their characters experience.

Other systems describe the referees in Table Top Role Playing Game genres as more generic terms, like Game Master, Game Operations Director (a backronym of GOD), Judge, Referee, or Storyteller. Some use more esoteric titles related to the genre or style of the game, such as the "Keeper of Arcane Lore" from Call of Cthulhu and the "Hollyhock God" from Nobilis.

The City of Lawrenceville will be hosting a Dungeons and Dragons / Table Top Role Playing Game meet-up that will include in-person public play one-shots, character creation workshops, and the opportunity to meet additional members in the Table Top Role Playing Game community.

We are looking for Dungeon Masters of all experience levels to run these public play one-shots during this event. Got an idea for a one-shot session? Let’s do it! Your session info will list the suggested character levels and give players an idea of what they’re in for, so unique and interesting one-shot sessions are more than welcome! We want to make sure all of our tables are appealing to our player-base, so we do ask that you avoid going overboard and keep to basic D&D 5e rules. A seasonal silly one-shot about the Easter Bunny’s hordes is amazing, but weekly laser space battles between level 20 characters are less of a draw.

Please be respectful of all players and their boundaries when running your session. We ask that you try to keep the one-shot to a 2 to 3-hour play-through goal. The City of Lawrenceville will only be hosting the event from 12:30 - 4:00 pm. Games that run longer than expected will not be forced to stop, but they won't be City supervised after 4:00 pm.

All Players, DMs, and additional attendees are asked to be respectful of each other, anything less than will result in removal from the site. This includes physical/verbal harassment or implied harmful intent.
