2024 Juneteenth Parade Rules
Motor Vehicles must be properly registered with license plates and insurance card.
NO MOTORCYCLES PLEASE
(ONLY POLICE MOTORCYCLES ALLOWED)
Your group will be assigned to Division 1, 2, 3, or 4 after your paid registration has been received. All paid entries will receive a number which will be painted on the street at your assigned division.
The Juneteenth Parade begins at 10:00 am on June 15, 2024.
Division 1: 001 thru 199 series numbers. Lineup at 8:00 am. Please enter Moselle Street from pole # 390 Moselle and proceed southbound on Moselle to your assigned number which is painted on the street. Park at the curb and wait for parade to start moving. Line up numbers continue right on Genesee Street. Numbers will stop at pole # 1456 Genesee street which is the START of the parade.
Divisions 2: will have 200 series numbers, Lineup at 8:00 am on Genesee between Moselle & Nevada Streets. Look for your assigned number painted on the street and park at the curb.
Division 3: will have 300 series numbers, Lineup at 8:30 am on Genesee Between Nevada & Colorado, Streets. Look for your assigned number painted on the street and park at the curb.
Division 4: will have 400 series numbers, Lineup at 8:45 am on Genesee between Colorado & Kilhoffer Street. Look for your assigned number painted on the street and park at the curb.
For easy access please enter Genesee Street going west bound from Bailey Avenue.
You should wait or park at the curb near your number until the parade marshal gives you instruction. No skipping in or changing your assigned lineup number. The parade route is on Genesee Street west bound from Bailey Avenue. Parade marshals will assist you with finding your numbers marked on the street.
The 1 and 1/2 mile parade begins at 10 am: Starting at pole # 1456 Genesee near Ivy Street. Any registered entry that arrives late will be asked to join the parade at the end. Anyone not registered for this parade will be denied entry into the parade.
No throwing of items into the crowd: This means anything including but not limited to candy. Items may be handed out in small bags if you desire.

Parade Marshals: There are 3-5 parade marshals assigned to each division based on the size of the division. The parade marshals will travel the entire route with their division. The Parade Marshals have authority to line up, space or remove participants to create a smooth flow of that division. The Buffalo Police will assist the marshals in watching for any non-compliance issues related to the City of Buffalo laws & ordinances.
If any entry is out of compliance with the Juneteenth of Buffalo Parade rules: Juneteenth Festival, Inc. reserves the right to eject said entry from the parade with no refunds and deny that entry future participation in the parade.
If any entry needs medical attention: Please let your parade marshal, parade staff, Juneteenth staff, or volunteers know immediately.
Responsible for damage: Each entry is responsible for any damage to public or private property during the parade assembly, procession, and disbursement. Each organization is responsible for keeping their area clean along the parade route. Tassels, food, drinks, and any other miscellaneous items must be disposed of properly according to the City of Buffalo Ordinance.
No parking on the grass: No racing of engines, spinning of tires or unnecessary motor vehicle idling or any other dangerous activities are allowed in the parade. You are held to the New York state Motor Vehicle Laws.
Entry Identification: Every person included with your entry must be identifiable either by uniform, a distinctive t-shirt logo, distinctive color, name badge, or full attire and must be recognizable by parade staff. Anyone out of uniform will be asked to exit the parade.
This is a family event: no provocative attire, swearing, or sexual connotations will be allowed, including but not limited to music/ playlist.
Special Requirements: All special requirements including requests for parade order must be submitted and negotiated by May 24, 2024. We will try to accommodate all reasonable requests, but we cannot guarantee special placement in the Lineup. Proper separation and placement for performance entries are priority in parade line up.
Parade Pace: Pace is very important. This parade is expected to end at approximately 1:00 pm. It is important that the pace of the parade is maintained. Gaps between units will be closed and enforced by parade marshals and parade officials. All performance pieces should be created with the movement of the parade in mind. Units are required to close gaps between itself and the preceding unit when directed by parade officials. Please try not to stop along parade route unless the preceding group has stopped.
Each entry must appoint a unit captain: to pace the unit and work with the parade marshals and officials.
NEW RULES FOR JUDGING COMPETITION: Our judges will score competitions along the parade route. We also encourage the audience to assist our judges by means of voting using the QR code posted along the parade route.
The parade will continue onto Best Street: then right on Fillmore and proceed down Fillmore past the Arts and Culture stage. Awards will be given out to the highest score at the Arts and Culture Stage on Fillmore and North Parade at approximately 3:00 pm.
Suggested parking areas before during and after the parade: Fougeron Street, Girard Place, Riley Street, Urban Street, or Fillmore Avenue. Also available is East Community High School parking lot at 870 Northampton Street. Please be courteous to our residents when parking. Let’s be Good Neighbors.
Shuttle bus locations: Fillmore and Fougeron streets and Genesee and Doat streets for boarding or departing along various side streets between the beginning and end of parade route starting at approximately 8:00 am. on June 15, 2024.
Responsible Party: Is defined as the person or persons who have a written agreement with the Juneteenth of Buffalo Parade Committee to be responsible for all persons included in entry. This person or persons must travel the entire parade route with entry to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and ordinances is maintained at all times.
