Join the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District for the 18th annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival. Free general admission. Enjoy live music, a food court presented by SactoMoFo, craft and community vendor booths, a kid's area, craft and domestic beer sales, a Cluck n' Crow contest, cornhole tournament, community spirit, and much more!

About the application

Traditional or unique, make your chicken the GREATEST in town. $20 entry. Each entry will receive one bare wooden chicken. Two categories to enter: Adult (ages 13+) or Child (ages 0-12).

 

All GREAT Chickens will be displayed at the 18th Annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival on September 16th, 2023 from 12PM-6PM at Fair Oaks Park (11549 Fair Oaks Blvd.) Voting will happen LIVE on-site from 12PM-4PM. Winner willl be selected and announced around 4:30PM.

 

Best of Show prize (free entry into the 2024 GREAT Chicken contest and prize basket) will be awarded to the GREAT Chicken with the most overall votes. First award (prize basket) will be awarded to the GREAT Chicken with the most votes in each category (adult & child). All entries will be awarded a participation certificate.

Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT DATES

August 1: Base Wooden Chicken may be picked up as early as August 1 from the District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628), Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

 

September 1: Registration Closes & Base Wooden Chicken must be picked up from the District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) no later than September 1st by 5pm. Base wooden chicken not picked up by 5pm will be forfeited. No refunds, no exceptions.

 

September 8: All Completed Wooden Chickens must be delivered to Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) by 5pm.

 

September 16: GREAT Chickens will be on display at the main Chicken Festival event at Fair Oaks Park. Voting will be LIVE on-site from 12PM-4PM. Winners will be selected and announced shortly after voting closes.

 

September 21-September 29: Wooden Chicken & any applicable certificate and/or awarded prize(s) may be picked up from the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
