2025 Maine Lobster Festival

Equally important to having volunteers to help during festival hours is the need for help before we open. The art tent set up is an awesome area to get aquainted with the morning before we open at noon on Wednesday.

We super appreciate our young vistors and are happy to offer a safe and entertaining area for the kids to play. Help keep the area clean and safe for the little ones.

Serve a variety of chowders, located next to the food tent.

The food tent has a wide variety of jobs, including assisting in prepping food for dishes served in the food tent such as lobster dinners, seafood, desserts and drinks. Help keep the tables washed, the trash barrels emptied, and the ground cleaned up in the food tent, providing a critical service in making sure attendees have the very best experience. A great opportunity for school groups to earn funds for their teams, clubs, and events such as project graduation! For the early birds! Volunteers will serve delicious blueberry pancakes and sausage to visitors. Coffee, milk, and juice is also available.

Although we no longer charge admission to enter the fairgrounds, the gates are the first step in the MLF experience. Gate monitors are tasked with welcoming visitors, counting attendees, handing out festival guides, along with helping to monitor the donation boxes.

Assist in setting up the festival red & whites, set gates, put up banners, and other tasks as assigned by Peter Beal, Vice President, and Grounds Director.

A fantastic spot for those who love history! Assist Heritage Society members answer questions of local and Lobster Festival history for our visitors.

A great opportunity for those who love to interact with our fantastic attendees! Although most people are simply looking for directions or facilities, a little local knowledge and familiarity with the festival is particularly helpful in this position.

Help prep and serve the best lobster rolls!

One of the more vigorous and "hot" spots to volunteer, assist cooking/steaming lobsters for the food tent.

Assist the parade directors and monitor people/children and traffic along the parade route..

Assist road race organizers in signing up racers and help keep them hydrated and on the route during the race.

Assist in the souvenir tent to display, straighten good, or run the cashier.

The Maine Lobster Frestival coronation is one of the first events of the festival every year, taking place on the opening Wednesday night, showcasing the spirit and passion of the youth in our community.

 

Originally Miss Maine Seafoods, then the Maine Sea Goddess, the festival expanded this program in 2023 by opening participation to any Maine resident ages 16 to 22 and rebranding the position as the Maine Lobster Festival Delegate.

The main requirement is being passionate about being an advocate for Maine’s lobster industry.

 

The Maine Lobster Festival is proud to be adapting and growing this competition. Other changes brought to the Delegate event include a focus on education regarding the Maine lobster fishery, instruction and guidance on essential skills for the position such as public speaking, and a charitable donation to an organization of the applicant’s choice.

 

This year we are accepting 16 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Leading up to the coronation, contestants are expected to participate in events which will include: a basic orientation; volunteering and service events; informational sessions on topics such as public speaking, social media, and the lobster industry; volunteering at the festival; and riding in the Saturday “Big Parade.”

 

These events will provide valuable tools and experiences, while also giving contestants the opportunity to showcase their strengths in healthy competition.

Every three years the Maine Lobster Festival selects work from a New England artist to create the featured artwork for the annual poster, rack card, and other promotional elements.  We encourage artists to submit images that best represent their style in any medium.  

 

To be considered, please submit 5-7 images of your finished work.  Images of lobsters and other lobster industry elements are encouraged but not required.
