Wunderkind

"I'll be your keeper for life as your guardian I'll be your warrior of care, your first warden I'll be your angel on call, I'll be on demand The greatest honor of all as your guardian" - from "Guardian" by Alanis Morissette I created "Wunderkind" in honor of my son, Lucien, who has accomplished and overcome so much during his first two years of life. I often call him both my shooting star and little mountain-mover. In that same vein, it's also about my role as his mom, or as I sometimes put it, his earthbound guardian. I often find myself falling into what would be a really easy rhythm of helicopter parenting, and then I have to breathe and say that isn't what he deserves. He needs someone to catch him when he falls, but he also needs someone who will let him do the falling...because as my husband tells me frequently, learning how to fall correctly and safely is important.
