Each one undergoes seven stages of sanding by one of our artisans to achieve its final luster. Inspired by crossbows used in the 13 to 16th century, our crossbows are fully functioning, and constructed with our unique, revolutionary peg and washer system. They also feature an authentic lever-trigger, hand-wrought bowstring, and traditional lashing. Used by many historical recreation organizations and live-action role-play enthusiasts, our crossbows are suitably durable for a day on the battlefield. It does require some strength to pull back the strings but it shouldn't be much of a challenge for a strong lad or lass. Each bow comes with one padded crossbow bolt. You have the option of bundling up to twelve bolts with this package. THE WOODS: The stock of this particular bow is made from the burl of a Poison Wood tree and has a lot of unique rustic character. We used a nice bright piece of Paduk for the plate, nut and trigger, with orange and red hues which will age to a rich reddish brown. The plate is held in place with Bubinga pegs and black leather washers. This protects the wood from weather, keeps the blades pliable, and prolongs the life of your crossbow. Upon receiving your bow, it is a good idea to use a soft cloth to buff the wax into the wood. Use our sword salve to wax your strings, which prevents them from fuzzing up. Don't forget your sword salve!
