The spoon is made of beech wood and feels wonderfully sturdy, with a hanging loop at the end of the handle. Each one is slowly and lovingly burned by hand. Rounded or flat topped spoons are available. Or buy both as a wonderful gift set! Makes a great housewarming present. Spoons are entirely usable for cooking.
