What Andromache Saw (The Tower) Print

“Only the dead have seen the end of war.” ― Plato "The Tower" is a card in my tarot deck, Feral Hearts, which is being published by US Games Systems, Inc. The Tower is commonly interpreted as meaning danger, crisis, destruction, and liberation. It is associated with sudden unforeseen change. For this card, I drew inspiration from the fall of Troy in Greek mythology, and focused primarily on the impact it had on Troy’s women, who in many ways, suffered the greatest burdens of the war. Many lost their entire family, and then went on to become slaves or concubines to their captors. Feral Hearts Tarot is a collection of art rooted deeply in Greek mythology. Mythology was once described to me as a method of coping with our own humanity. We needed a bit of "taming" and lessons taught and learned through myths like those the Greeks created provided that, and perhaps unintentionally, epic mysticism and wonder that would stand the test of time. I hope the work I create for this deck embraces the raw, unfiltered nature of our hearts as I seek to celebrate the stories I've loved since I was a little girl.
