Acrylic Paint
11"x14"
This piece was created because I love how barn owls look, especially their unique feather patterns on their wings. I tried to incorporate as much detail as possible without making everything too cluttered, while emphasizing brush strokes, particularly in the chest of the bird. Acrylic is a medium that I use frequently and continue to experiment with. This piece, however, was less experimental and more for fun, and fun I did have. I wanted to create a ‘cold’ atmosphere in the painting, utilizing a dull background, something which I rarely do, but decided was adequate to compliment and emphasize the warm colors of the owl. Overall, I am satisfied with the outcome of this painting and will reference my techniques in future owl portraits.
