Description

This print has two patents one for steel strings and the other for a steel head. This racquet marks the first time you see patents on the tennis racquet that were not improvements on the traditional materials of wooden head and gut strings. The inventor, William Larned, was champion of the US 7 times between 1901 and 1911. The patents were assigned to Dayton Steel who made and distributed them through Spalding. Dayton sold the racket from 1922 to 1995.
