I never imagined one simple question could change my life. It all started with my husband asking me, “If there were no obstacles in your way, what have you always wanted to do?” Setting fear aside and with my family’s support, I dove into the world of glass making. I have always been fascinated by artists who were able to take different color and textured pieces, working them in hot, warm and cold form into new creations that were beautiful and functional. The expression of taking multiple items and making them into a unique and visually inspiring piece, is the motivation behind the work I create.
I studied under Curtiss Brock and later Karen Reed. I began by learning how to blow glass, then I soon discovered that I loved the processes required to make fused glass. I love the organization of, and I am fascinated with the scientific properties of glass, necessary to design, combine colors, textures, shapes and techniques. The possibilities are endless through kiln-forming.
As a new artist and business owner, my second chapter is proving to be exciting and inspirational. I am continually learning new methods and ideas and applying them to my work. I cut, manipulate and form the glass shapes with flow, dimension and texture inside my kiln. My creations are a combination of both decorative and functional art. Panda Heart Glass – Hand-crafted glass art made with love and hugs.
