Saint Christina the Astonishing, also known as Saint Christina Mirabilis, died at a young age, and then, astonishingly, came to life again in the midst of her funeral mass.
She immediately floated to the ceiling of the cathedral, to escape the stench of sin that emanated from the congregation.
St. Christina the Astonishing is one of a series of prints featuring eccentric and/or little-known saints.

Printmaking is my passion.
I love the challenge of creating an image using linoleum blocks: how to convey shape, volume, texture, and movement using only the binary of black and white.
I also love the physical process of making prints. Carving a block reminds me of the rhythm of walking, and creates a meditative mood. Printing a block by hand includes the excitement of the first reveal -- even if I've been carving a block for weeks, the final print is still a surprise.
I hope you will find my artwork to be challenging, surprising, thought-provoking, and fun.
Thank you for visiting!
