Barbara Rush is colorful and structured acrylic artist. Her work has been influenced by cubists such as Robert Delaunay and Picasso, but her style is uniquely her own. She creates elegant outlines of animals, then fills them with heavily gridded shapes, or curves, that in the same moment break apart and hold the subject matter together. Life is molded from lines, capturing the essence of its energy on the canvas.
A professional artist since 2007, she has painted over 250 paintings with over 80% of them sold. Over the years, she has been awarded several best in show, and first place ribbons in painting, and was most recently selected by the Polk Museum of Art to be the Official Artist of the Mayfaire 2020.
In the spirit of community, she owned and managed a co-op art gallery for 11 years (before developers purchased the property). She was also represented in several other local galleries. In 2018, she was selected as a Top 10 Finalist, at Design N Gather, for the NoMad Hotel in NYC.
Her work has been featured on the Cover of the Chronicle of the Horse Magazine (2011) and her original style was discussed in the Atlanta Horse Connections Magazine (2012) and North Fulton Family Magazine (2013), who said she was “reconstructing deconstructionism”. Her work was touted most recently, by Gary White, in The Ledger Newspaper, as the Official Artist for Mayfaire 2020 and on 11 Alive - NBC network news...Making the Best of It!
Ms. Rush resides in Roswell, GA., and was educated in fine art and graphic design. She holds a BFA from ODU (VA) and an MA from Syracuse University (NY).
All in all, Ms. Rush’s unique way of connecting with her subject matter, combined with her unique style and analytical analysis of interlocking shapes, makes her paintings resonate with vitality and significance in the art world.
Barbara Rush is a local Roswell, GA artist, and past Historic Roswell Gallery Owner (2007-2018). She created her GeoCubist style in 2004-2006 after a visit to a Cubist exhibit at the High Museum (Atlanta GA), and has been painting and selling art since 2007. A master of color and movement, Ms. Rush, uses her artistic genius to create unique paintings of animals that will enliven the walls of your home or office…like a breath of fresh air.
