Polaskia chichipe is a cactus that resembles a tree, developing a short trunk and branching at the top as it matures. It can reach a height of 16.5 feet (5 m) and its branches are characterized by a greenish-grey color, curved shape, and 9 to 12 acute wavy ribs. Each areole contains 6 to 7 up to 2 inches (5 cm) long radial spines and one longer grayish central spine. The small flowers are either yellowish-green or pinkish-white, while the edible fruits are spherical, red, and up to 1.2 inches (3 cm) in diameter.
While they are not able to withstand harsh frost, they can be moved indoors to a sunny windowsill or under a grow light in the event of freezing temps.
