Pachypodium lamerei 'Madagascar Palm'

Lamerei is a semi-deciduous succulent tree with a unique silver-gray trunk, usually found alone or with limited branching, and adorned with sharp spines. Its thick, fleshy stem can reach heights of up to 20 feet (6 m) and diameters of 1 foot (30 cm). The green leaves are thin and spiral around the top of the plant, while the spines can grow up to 2.4 inches (6 cm). In the summer, white flowers with yellow centers up to 2.4 inches (6 cm) long and 4.4 inches (11 cm) in diameter may bloom, but this is a rare occurrence indoors. Seed pods, resembling cucumbers, can grow up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length.
