Description

N500. Two Sided Fold-Over Blue/White Speckled Lithograph Tin Ring & White Bead Necklace. I made the pendant by cutting a ring out of vintage lithograph tin, & folding it over a silver-tone wire strung with white beads. Lithography is a printing method from the 1790s; during the early/mid-20thcentury, it was used to produce brightly colored tin used in toys, TV trays, lunch boxes, candy containers, doll houses, etc. I used silver-tone cable chain & a white bead to complete the necklace. The necklace length is adjustable at 14.75”, 15.75” & 16.75”; the pendant measures 1.5” by 5/8”.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
