Description

N479. Butterfly Study Lithograph Tin on Textured Copper Necklace. I made this necklace by prong-setting a piece I cut from vintage lithograph tin on copper that I'd textured with vintage lace. I cut butterfly shapes out of the copper at back. Lithography was used in the 20th century to make brightly colored tin toys, TV trays, lunch boxes, & doll houses, etc. For the chain, I used broken rosary chain, as well as brass figaro chain, with a brass butterfly at the back. The necklace measures up to 25”, but can be worn shorter. The pendant measures 1 5/8” by 2.5”.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
