Ultra Modern, Contemporary and yet Boho, these dark chocolate brown earrings are one-of-a-kind and make a statement! Handmade fold-formed copper with sterling silver accents and ear wires. Many of my favorite techniques come together in these gorgeous deep brown patina earrings. I created this by starting with a piece of bare copper sheet metal. I have textured it by rolling it through a rolling mill with a piece of paper that I have cut out in a geometric design that is uniquely mine. That pattern is now imbedded into the metal and from this I cut my wide rectangular shape which will be the form I begin with. Repeatedly annealing (meaning softening with a torch to the point of being pliable) and then folding and opening up and unfolding and gently hammering a few times...and then gently manipulating the metal into it's pleasing shape is what happens next. This technique is called fold forming. I have achieved somewhat of a very contemporary leaf shape in this pair of earrings. I have tied the circle design of the complementing cuff from this grouping to this pair of earrings by repeating the circle shape! Several various size sterling silver circles have been soldered on for additional interest as well as texture. A specially formulated patina is then applied in a luscious deep bronze color to add additional interest and dimension. The polishing process brings the silver as well as the high ares of the copper folds to a lovely high shine. Sterling silver ear wires are naturally hypo-allergenic. These earrings are entirely made by hand by me in my studio. The earrings measure 3" from top to bottom. This is a one-of-a-kind pair.
