medium gray washed Romney Wool Roving Fleece

Four ounce bags of Medium Gray Romney Ready-to-Use Wool Roving. Professionally washed and carded by Alford Family Farms and Spinnery, with great care taken to ensure a wonderful end product. The wool is skirted, cold soaked overnight, pre-washed, hot soaked for at least 2 hours followed by two washes, two rinses, opening, tumbling, hand picking of vegetable matter, treating and carding. The scouring(washing) process allows for a gentle moving of water through the wool to avoid agitation which cause tangling or felting. Temperature controls prevent shock to the fleece as it soaks. No harsh chemicals are used in the cleaning of the fleece. A Stonehedge picker and carder processes the washed fleece. This GORGEOUS roving is from a Medium Gray Romney fleece. The roving is perfect for spinning and knitting, or felting into warm garments! The carded fiber is super easy to spin on a spinning wheel or drop spindle. The color is a rich Medium gray with a very limited amount of white silvering throughout. This wool is from Little Hooves Farm in PA.
