Matter-Navy

This is a one-of-a-kind journal made from a rescued volume of the Grolier Encyclopedia. I have adorned the original cover, containing an image of Mt. Rushmore, with leafy vegetation, stenciled using acrylic paint. The various-colored ribbon, in addition to adorning the cover, serves to anchor the long-stitch and kettle-stitch binding, visible on the spine. The pages of the journal are made from water-stressed paper. I include out-of-context quotes from the original book on some of the pages to be used as writing prompts.
