Who can resist the fresh smell of springs first lilacs filling a home? I anxiously await their arrival in my garden. My tree is full, I cut them and fill the house with the beauty and aroma and shortly thereafter the beautiful fragrant blooms are gone.

Carolyn is an ‘urban artist’, the Chair of the Artists' Network and an active and regular participant in art shows, including Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Riverdale ArtWalk, ArtWalk Square, Bayview Studio Tour, Stouffville Art in the Park, Toronto Artisans Market, Blue Crow Gallery Summer Show, Queen West ArtCrawl and in group shows at Leslie Grove Gallery. Having initially worked in the interior design field, then in commercial construction and now in commercial real estate, she is a lifetime member of ARIDO and past president of Toronto CREW. Carolyn's artwork is an exploration of ideas which interweave her diverse urban experience into the process, experimenting with materials, new concepts, compositions and mark making. The work is intended to be playful and fun, whimsical and uplifting, each piece with deeper meaning and inviting the viewer to develop their own interpretation. Carolyn begins with layers of play, followed by intentional editing, adding and removing and adjusting of elements, colour and values, usually with a splash or two of spraypaint. Up to 20 layers could be worked on, and they continue until the piece speaks back that it is complete.
