Our Ewe, Thistle’s fleece weighs 5 pounds with a 4.5 inch staple length. A wavy lock fleece easy to spin . The fleece is traditional with soft lower lock and wispy guard hair tip. Very little VM. This is a good fleece allowing the spinner to experience the best of Shetland wool. Shetland fleeces produce a light lofty yarn with a silky finish. And a little goes a long way. Our fleeces are never coated because these browsing animals have cleaned our pastures up nicely. But they might have some very light vegetable matter. (Coating sheep often causes felting.)
